Authenticity

Authenticity

There is weariness – ennui – when we stray from our authentic purpose in life. Authenticity is a beautiful word that is under threat of co-optation and over use – like “abundance” and “opportunity” and “challenge”. Business speak can strangle language. But I digress…

The business of building a brand can be about illusion – the masquerade of financial success, commercial popularity, must-have – the image to beget the desired power play and get-rich-quick.

For me, branding is the pursuit of the authentic – what is most important, most real, most alive to you? THIS is what you should be doing. THIS is what you should be selling. It’s what people are attracted to – passion, exceptional quality, specialization. Your brand is your business suit – it needs to look good but ultimately you need to feel good in it or you’ll look silly.
