18 Nov Brand Colours Unbridled
It’s tough not to be impacted by seasonality when choosing brand colours. Currently I’m drawn to dark, cozy tones evocative of fire, good heavy wine, blanket, couch, book.
And then in the next breath I’m enraptured with cool icy palettes – frosted blues and aquas only mildly coopted by the Frozen franchise. The world outside this computer is full of delightfully muted mountain hues. Gravelly golds in the grasses: these spire sentinels hang tight to their existence, tipped with white and shamelessly sparking in the early light. Late planted hostas retreat deeper and deeper into burgundy, heavily contrasted against the fledgling eco grass, still awake in bright kelly green. The garden officially dormant, is a cemetery of aged colour, pale compared to its summer flare and yet so evocative: pallid leaves frost-crusted and wise acknowledge passers-by with a glint. And still the occasionally hold-out pansy starts out of the decay, defiantly purple, seeking cover from the husks that once stole her sunshine.
I could go on, but the re-brand calls. Oh and yes the Origin website needs heavy update. But I’m too busy doing what I love to tend that garden at the moment – it will have to wait another day. Now back to the hunt for the perfect colour combo that will imply quality, heartiness, trust, and will still hold its own and be relevant come spring …
